PM Glynn Institute presents

The PM Glynn Lecture on Religion, Law and Public Life

The Lecture will be delivered by Professor James Franklin, Honorary Professor, University of New South Wales, Sydney on the theme

Politics, Law and Policy, and the Abstract Principles of Practical Action

Euclid brought clarity and certainty to the practical world of geometry by organising it abstractly: as a logical structure of theorems provable from self-evident first principles. Can something similar be done with complex matters of policy, law, and ethics?

In the 2024 PM Glynn Lecture, mathematician, philosopher and historian of ideas James Franklin lays out how to think about politics, law and policy in abstract principles, some of the mistakes it helps us identify, and the deep positive results it yields for a life in common.

Date: Thursday 27 June 2024

Time: Guest registration from 5:30pm, Formalities at 6.00pm

Location: Peter Cosgrove Centre, Level 18, Tenison Woods House, 8-20 Napier Street, North Sydney
